• In the first step, the applicant must go to the consular document authentication site, Mikhak, and register on it. It should be noted that, when registering on the Mikhak site, you must make sure that the requested information -- both your own information and your attorney's information -- exactly matches your Iranian birth certificate (shenasnameh). After registering on the Mikhak site and logging into your profile with the username and password you created during registration, you must go to the section for the Iranian mission or consulate in the country where you live.

• In the next step, you must go to the power-of-attorney section.

• Then you must select the type of power-of-attorney document you want.

• At this stage, you can proceed to prepare the power-of-attorney document.

• After preparing and registering your power-of-attorney document, a tracking code for your document will be displayed, which you should save somewhere.

What Documents Are Needed to Request a Power of Attorney for Iranians Abroad?

The following documents are needed to request a power of attorney for Iranians abroad:

• Filling out the questionnaire available on the Mikhak system.

• Birth-certificate particulars.

• The address of the attorney in Iran who has been granted the power of attorney. Stating the attorney's complete particulars and address is mandatory.

• A birth certificate, or passport, or national ID card. Preparing the power-of-attorney document is only possible with these documents.

• The principal's signature on the power-of-attorney document must be made in the presence of a consular officer.

• There must be no crossing-out or alteration anywhere in the power-of-attorney document.

• After the power-of-attorney document is certified, no information may be added to its text, because doing so would invalidate the document.

• You can grant the power of attorney either in person or online: in person, by going to the relevant mission protecting the interests of the Islamic Republic in the country where you reside; or online, by registering and, after printing the power-of-attorney document, certifying and signing it. In the final step, you must wait for final approval of your power-of-attorney document in Iran.
